M5 carbon fibre standard extensions

M5 extensions are tailored to VAST stylus systems. Their diversity unites the material (length over 40 mm) and its unique processing: They are based on bending and torsion-resistant carbon fiber technology, which ranks higher than the metal solutions even in the lower price segment. With three available versions, ZEISS REACH CFX 1, CFX 3 and CFX 5, the extensions correspond to the accuracy level of the respective coordinate measuring machine.

The extremely flexurally and torsionally stiff carbon fiber extensions, manufactured exclusively by ZEISS, make it possible to replace metallic extensions, which - especially in the production environment, but also in the measuring room - are not sufficiently stable in length when exposed to temperature fluctuations to meet the requirements for measurement uncertainty.

Fewer stylus systems changes required ZEISS REACH CFX are very light weight and allow the assembly of more complex stylus systems, also on probes with strict weight limits.
Qualified for all measuring environments ZEISS REACH CFX is thermally much more stable than aluminum and is up to 60 % more stiff than titanium. This delivers more accurate measurements even when scanning the workpiece or in the manufacturing environment.
Increased productivity All extension in the portfolio are statically stiff with hardly any deflection compared to extensions made of titanium or aluminum. This allows faster scanning of the workpiece without losing accuracy.
Reliable results The three stiffness levels available for REACH CFX extensions – CFX 1, CFX 3 and CFX 5 – ensure that you can always rely on your measuring results. Since they are matching the different CMM classes their accuracy is always kept on the highest possible level.

Suitable for all accuracy requirements

Extensions have the greatest influence on the accuracy and reproducibility of the measurement. Up to 60% of all measurement errors can be attributed to the use of unsuitable extensions. The use of metrologically unsuitable extensions ultimately reduces the overall accuracy of the CMM, which is also referred to as a downgrade of the machine. Not all carbon fibers are the same, so it is worth taking a closer look at the properties of carbon fiber extensions. ZEISS REACH CFX is available in three different stiffness levels to suit different levels of accuracy. CFX 1 is priced at the same level as titanium or aluminum extensions, but is significantly better than metal in terms of precision. CFX 3 is priced in the middle segment and offers significantly higher accuracy than CFX 1 extensions. CFX 3 is to a certain extent the all-round carefree package for extensions. CFX 5 rounds off the portfolio and meets the highest technical requirements. These high-end extensions are mainly used on high-end machines such as XENOS, Prismo ultra or MICURA. The quality of all REACH CFX extensions is unsurpassed on the market, so with the right choice of these high-quality REACH extensions, higher accuracy can be achieved on machines in all price segments. In other words, high quality ZEISS REACH CFX carbon fiber extensions prevent degradation of machine accuracy.
